چکیده

Providing multi-interface device users the ability to roam between different access networks is becoming a key requirement for service providers. The availability of multiple mobile broadband access technologies together with increasing use of real time multimedia applications is creating strong demand for handover solutions that can seamlessly and securely transfer user sessions across different access technologies. In this paper, we discuss how the Comment [t1]: Author: Please confirm if Miriam Tauil is the corresponding author.

IEEE 802.21 Buffer Predicting Seamless Handoff (BPSH) Scheme for WAVE-WiMAX Heterogenous Handoff

Since Wireless Access in Vehicular Environment (WAVE) is a draft amendment to the IEEE 802.11 standard, the integration of WAVE (IEEE 802.11p) and Wireless Metropolitan Area Network (IEEE 802.16) becomes a concerned issue to mobile network users. During the roaming between the two heterogeneous wireless networks, the quality of multimedia services for users depends heavily on seamless handover,...

OpenMIH, an Open-Source Media-Independent Handover Implementation and Its Application to Proactive pre-Authentication

Enabling a seamless experience for mobile users while dealing with multi-access networks is a great challenge for wireless access providers. Towards this goal, the IEEE 802.21 Working Group is elaborating the needed mechanisms and the standardization effort has led to a Media Independent Handover Services (MIHS) framework that is now ready for deployment. However, no public implementation of th...

Enabling IEEE 802.21 in a B3G Cellular Experimental Network

Recent trends in mobile networking show the large scale emergence of multimode mobile terminals, with the capability to simultaneously or sequentially attach to conceptually different access networks. To cope with this, they require an abstracted framework for mobility management and control. A solution to this issue, called Media Independent Handover Services, is standardized by the 802.21 gro...
